The creation process
From the idea to your finished unique piece
Development
It all starts with an idea
At the Inge Glas® MANUFAKTUR in Neustadt near Coburg, Bavaria, trends for the Christmas season after next are already being developed at the beginning of the year. Shapes are modeled, and colors and decorations are determined.
Mold making
15,000 shapes. One family.
It all begins with an idea – and a form. Our model makers craft every detail by hand, creating the foundation for each new ornament. Our in-house model workshop houses one of the world's largest collections of glassblowing molds. Here, historical treasures are preserved – and new forms for modern classics are modeled.
Glassblowing
Mouth-blown, not machine-made.
With a steady hand and calm breath, the ornament is shaped at the torch. Mouth-blown, with feeling. Just like 100 years ago. Whether spheres, points, or figurative ornaments – each piece is created from heated glass, either freely shaped or blown into metal molds. This moment transforms the material into something special, imbuing the glass with character and emotional power.
Silver plating
Silver inside. For shine on the outside.
The special effect comes from within: Each piece is mirrored with genuine sterling silver. This gives it its unmistakable shimmer – timelessly elegant and lasting. Genuine Inge-Glas jewelry doesn't shine by chance: The internal mirroring with a wafer-thin layer of the precious metal gives the ornaments depth, brilliance, and a lasting radiance.
painting
Each line adds character.
Our painters decorate each ornament by hand – from the first to the last brushstroke. Eyes, contours, highlights – every step adds personality. This makes each piece unique.
Assembly
Feathers, threads, finishing touches.
Here, further refinement takes place: Spun glass fibers as bird tail feathers, but also other feathers, Swarovski elements, glitter and more – everything that gives an ornament even more individuality happens here.
Quality inspection
Only those who shine will be crowned.
Only after careful inspection does each ornament receive the Star Crown® – our seal for genuine handcrafted quality. It stands for craftsmanship, origin, and heart.

The tradition of the Christmas Pickle is especially popular in the United States, but it’s gaining more and more fans in Germany each year.
